From charming towns to stunning state parks, there’s no shortage of places to visit in Maine within a roughly 45-minute drive of Smuggler’s Cove Inn. Keep reading to learn about five of our favorites.

  1. Book your on the Balmy Days II to visit Monhegan Island. This island is home to nine miles of hiking trails, which take you to ocean cliffs. Be sure to stop by Monhegan Brewing Company for a drink before your return trip.
  2. It only takes about 30 minutes to reach the riverfront town of Damariscotta. One of the most popular things to do here is go on an outing with Damariscotta River Cruises, which offers several weekly tours.
  3. While technically outside the 45-minute radius, Reid State Park is worth the extra 10-minute drive. The 770-acre park is ideal for birdwatching, fishing, swimming, and more.
  4. Traffic and road construction can sometimes make the drive to Bath a little longer than 45 minutes. However, this quaint town is worth the few extra minutes in the car. While here, visit the Maine Maritime Museum, or go for a walk around downtown.
  5. Head to Southport, which is only about 20 minutes away. This town is home to several attractions, including the Southport General Store and Barn, and Cape Newagen Alpaca Farm.
