5 Things to Do on Your Retreat

The goal of a wellness retreat is to leave it feeling rejuvenated and refocused. There are numerous ways to accomplish this, but we’ve made a list of five of our favorites.

  1. A great addition to any wellness retreat is yoga. While you can certainly roll out your mat in your room or lawn. Another great option is to see what classes are taking place at local yoga studios like Crow Point Yoga.
  2. Another excellent option is to treat yourself to a bit of pampering with a massage. Healing Touch Massage offers several treatments that focus on specific muscle areas. They also offer prenatal massages and foot treatments.
  3. While forest bathing isn’t new by any means, it has been growing in popularity. This practice involves being in nature and connecting with it through your senses. Despite its name, you have to be in a forest. Local nature preserves like Linekin and Burley Preserves or Appalachee Preserve are great options.
  4. Another wellness practice gaining new traction is grounding, which is actually pretty easy to try. It requires you to do activities that “ground” you or electrically reconnect you to the earth. This could mean going for a walk barefoot, lying on the ground, or wading in the water. Being around water has been shown to help with relaxation as it impacts all five senses at once.
  5. Getting away from the distractions of life is a great time to work on your meditation skills, especially when surrounded by water like at our coastal resort. You can practice anywhere you can comfortably sit, including in your spacious guest room or on our private beach. If you’re new to this practice, try setting a timer for 10 minutes and slowly work your way up.
